If this week is anywhere near as exciting as last week, Arsenal fans will be delighted.

Their transfer window sprang to life a few days ago with the capture of Alexis Sanchez. With the World Cup now over and Arsene Wenger due to return from Brazil, further activity is expected.

According to the BBC, Arsenal are on course to sign France defender Mathieu Debuchy, and an announcement on that deal could be imminent. However, with Arsenal still in the market in several positions, there are plenty of other intriguing rumours doing the rounds.

This article will keep you up to date with all the transfer rumours and stories surrounding Arsenal. Pop back later in the week, as there will be daily updates on any further developments.

At long last, Arsenal have completed the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy.

The deal was announced on, with manager Arsene Wenger confirming:

We are delighted to welcome Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal Football Club. He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France. He is a quality defender who has good Premier League experience and I’m confident he will fit in very well with us.

Debuchy will wear the No. 2 shirt and provide an immediate replacement for the departed Bacary Sagna.

The agent of German international Sami Khedira has moved to quell speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal, telling the Daily Mail:

We are not in  talks with Arsenal. I don’t think  a fee can have been agreed, otherwise I would have been told.

We are talking to Real Madrid about his contract, but nothing is close to being decided. Sami has just returned from the World Cup and has gone on holiday.

This particular story has already developed into something of a saga, as this slideshow will attest.

With the Mail also asserting that Chelsea have entered the race for his signature, this one could run for a while yet.

According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, Arsenal's signing of Mathieu Debuchy could be finalised in a matter of hours:

Arsenal are expected to announce the £10m signing of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle on Thursday.

Following the arrival of Holland full-back Daryl Janmaat from Feyenoord, the Magpies are now happy to finalise the departure of Debuchy, who was part of the French World Cup squad which reached the quarter-finals in Brazil.

The 28-year-old will present ready-made cover for Bacary Sagna, who earlier this summer left Arsenal to join Manchester City on a free transfer.

Debuchy would become the club's second summer signing after the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. He would likely take up the vacant No. 2 shirt.

Arsenal Agree Khedira Fee

4 of 9

    Wednesday, July 16

Spanish paper Marca report than an accord has been reached between Arsenal and Real Madrid over the transfer of Sami Khedira.

The one stumbling block remaining is the player's wage demands:

Real Madrid and Arsenal have almost reached an agreement with the Premier League side prepared to pay around €25 million for the international, whose value has increased during the World Cup. After a season in which a serious injury appeared to make it one to forget, Khedira managed to recover just in time to play in the Champions League final, force his way into Joachim Löw's German squad and go on to become a regular fixture in the World Cup winning side.

Khedira will be available for free in a year's time, so will know he is just 12 months away from really maximising his earnings.

However, it is unlikely Arsenal would come this far in the negotiating process without being confident they can pay the player what he wants. This is certainly one to watch.

French Reports Indicate David Ospina Move Is Getting Closer

    Tuesday, July 15

Stories about Arsenal's interest in Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina are proliferating apace.

The Metro report on claims in French newspaper Nice Matin that a deal has been agreed for the 25-year-old shot-stopper:

Arsenal are expecting to complete the signing of Nice goalkeeper David Ospina later this week after agreeing a £3.2million fee for his services.

Ospina was strongly linked with a switch to Arsenal over the weekend, with reports in Argentina saying a move was close.

And now French newspaper Nice Matin says the Ligue 1 club have accepted a £3.2million bid from the Gunners, with the deal set to be done in the next few days.

Later this week, we'll discover if these claims are quite as concrete as they seem.

Ospina would doubtless be a good addition, and with his contract due to expire next summer, he is available at a very reasonable fee.

    Monday, July 14

Despite reports from Simon Jones of the Daily Mail suggesting that Arsenal might have abandoned their pursuit of Sami Khedira, stories have now surfaced suggesting a deal could be imminent.

David Kent of the Mail cites Sport as saying a £23 million deal has already been agreed:

Arsenal are set to beat Chelsea to the signing of German international Sami Khedira from Real Madrid with Spanish newspapers reporting that a £23million deal has already been agreed.

According to Sport, Khedira will sign a four-year deal at the Emirates after it emerged that Chelsea were also interested in the 27-year-old.

Contract talks between Khedira's representatives and Real Madrid broke down and they are now set to sell rather than let him go for free next summer.

It's quite the about-turn. We'll keep you abreast of developments in the Transfer Tracker.

    Monday, July 14

According to a report by John Cross in The Mirror, Arsenal are on the verge of announcing the signing of France international right-back Mathieu Debuchy. However, if reports emerging in Spain are to be believed, they want another right-back as well.

Marca (English translation from Sport Witness) claim Arsenal are determined to land 20-year-old Atletico Madrid full-back Javier Manquillo, potentially on a one-year loan deal with the option of a permanent transfer.

If Arsenal are indeed after Manquillo, it could suggest that Carl Jenkinson is set for a loan spell elsewhere.

    Monday, July 14

With Lukasz Fabianski having joined Swansea City on a free transfer, Arsenal are in the market for a new back-up goalkeeper.

According to John Cross of The Mirror, David Ospina has emerged as their main target:

Arsenal boss Wenger has had lengthy discussions with Ospina's advisers and they believe he is ready to move to the Emirates after negotiations about personal terms.

They are set to get a bargain deal as Ospina only has 12 months left on his contract at French club Nice and he impressed during Colombia's World Cup campaign.

After an impressive World Cup with Colombia, Ospina would be an astute acquisition for Arsene Wenger.

After missing the World Cup final, Sami Khedira may also miss out on a move to Arsenal.

According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger has broken off transfer talks with the Real Madrid midfielder in favour of a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender.

Jones goes on to say that Khedira could now be poised to join former Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas at Chelsea
