Watch Wimbledon or the AT&T National this weekend?
If not, you missed quite the show on each tournament’s final day.
Two of the greatest all-time at their sport—Roger Federer and Tiger Woods—walked away victorious yesterday. Federer took down American Andy Roddick in five grueling, intense sets while Woods cruised to victory in the tournament he hosts.
With the win—Federer’s sixth at Wimbledon—Federer moved past Pete Sampras for most Grand Slam titles all time. His 15th did not come easily, however, as Roddick gave the No. 1 player in the world a battle in what became the longest men’s Grand Slam final in history.
Later in the afternoon, Woods finished a strong weekend on his part by claiming a one-stroke victory over Hunter Mahan. Although the two men did not battle head-to-head down the stretch it took Tiger 16 holes to defeat Mahan, who shot a tournament record 62 on Sunday.
All in all, it was good Sunday TV. NFL injury updates after the jump.
LaDainian Tomlinson [RB, Chargers]
From RotoProfessor:
His ypc wasn’t great at 3.8, but he was dealing with a toe injury. That injury has healed though, and according to an AP report he is “kind of making sure my body’s in great shape, and making sure I’m as strong as possible. I haven’t missed any time, worked out every single day. … I haven’t had a setback at all.”
For all of the negativity and pessimism that surrounded Tomlinson last season, he still had one heck of a season. As far as down years go, his was pretty bearable for fantasy owners.
Of course, Tomlinson’s fantasy owners have been spoiled handsomely in the past. If he truly is back to 100 percent health, which it sounds like he is, Tomlinson could have another elite fantasy football season or two left in that talented body.
Percy Harvin [WR, Vikings]
From The Big Lead:
The Florida Gators star, who tumbled a bit in the draft after being linked to drugs (just marijuana), has fallen ill again. This time after arriving at the NFL Rookie Symposium. He was sent home.
While Harvin has avoided some of the more typical injuries that rookies face — hamstring strain, for example—he continues to get ill. Not sure what this is all about or if it should be a concern for fantasy owners. Harvin’s health certainly bears monitoring this summer, but unless he misses significant practice this should be of little concern.
The MMR will continue to run every Monday morning as scheduled during the offseason. If you have an injury update or want an update on a certain player, please leave a note in the comments.
