15 Years Ago, Brandi Chastain Kicked Winning PK as USA Won Women's World Cup

On this day 15 years ago, the United States Women's National Team beat China on penalty kicks to win the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup in Pasadena, California.

That World Cup-winning team was loaded with stars, with Mia Hamm headlining the group and Briana Scurry in net. However, it was Brandi Chastain who came up with the most iconic moment in Team USA history.

The match was scoreless through regulation and extra time. After China missed their third penalty attempt, all the United States needed to do was make their remaining attempts. That's exactly what they did.

Of course, the most memorable moment from the match came after Chastain put the ball in the back of the net to give Team USA the victory. Then, this happened:

United States fans should recall that 1999 was also the last time that Team USA, men or women, won the World Cup.
