Two years ago was the longest year I can ever remember as a Notre Dame fan. I live in Hawaii that is filled with Notre Dame haters. Most out here love USC.

That whole year I spent defending Notre Dame against the haters. They all told me the program was in decline and I always said no it is just rebuilding.

Of course nobody actually acknowledged that the team did improve each week.

Then last year, none of the haters would actually acknowldege the improvement the team made. All they saw was the Syracuse lost. When the Hawaii Bowl was announced, I heard it from the Hawaii fans that Hawaii would win and get Charlie Weis fired. That one I could easily brush off because I knew that only Notre Dame, not Hawaii, could beat Notre Dame in the Hawaii Bowl. The rest is history and I was the happiest guy at work the day after Christmas and I let them all have it.

The Hawaii Bowl set the tone for a huge year in 2009 for the Irish. The haters may not see it yet but Phil Steele does. Steele has Notre Dame ranked #7. Colin Cowherd ususally hates Notre Dame and he thinks Steele is right on. On key ingredient in Steele's formula is the number of starts by the whole offensive line. Notre Dame has the most exeperienced line according to Steele.

Looking at the schedule, I just don't see any team on it, even USC, that is better than Notre Dame on Paper. Based on that an undefeated may seem unlikely but is more possible than haters want to admit.

Let's look at the schedule week by week. Then a trip to the title game is very possible.

Nevada fairs no better than the other WAC team

Nevada is more scary than people think. They have a very underrated backfield featuring quarterback Colin Kaepernick and runners Luke Lippencott and Vai Taua.

However, they have a bad passing defense and are the fourth best program in the WAC. If Notre Dame plays up to it's ability, they win easily.

Notre Dame is too much for the young Wolverines

Many Michigan fans are thinking they can win this one. I just don't see it.

If you look at Notre Dame and Michigan, the programs have gone down similar paths the last two years. The difference is that Notre Dame has already had the two years of rebuilding and look ready to be Notre Dame once again.

Notre Dame seems to be a year ahead of Michigan in the rebuilding effort. Notre Dame has all but one senior on the O-line. We all know how important an experienced line is.

The receiving corps highlighted by Golden Tate and Michael Floyd will be too much for Michigan's young secondary.

Michigan puts up a great effort but at the end of the day, it will be:

Weis gets the Spartan monkey off his back

With Brian Hoyer and Javon Ringer gone, Michigan State can have a long day in South Bend. The Irish should roll big here. I just don't see the talent for MSU.

Notre Dame continues to roll at Purde.

Purdue is a hard team to figure out. They have a new coach, and plenty of new players including a new quarterback. It is hard to say how good they will be. My gut says not very.

I like Notre Dame big here.

Washington is no match for the Irish

It won't be as fun kicking their butts without Tyrone Willingham, but still a long day for Jake Locker and company.

USC shocked at South Bend

It has been a long time since the Irish have tasted victory in this one. The last couple of years really hurt. Looking back at Quinn's junior year. It was the epic battle we all remember. Well now it is Clausen's junior year and the team is assembled.

USC will still be tough but they do have a new quarterback and practically a whole new defense. This will be another epic showdown but the result this time is an Irish victory.

The Irish Finally get Redemption for BC

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - SEPTEMBER 20: Dominique Davis #15 of the Boston College Eagles talks in the huddle against the Central Florida Knights as teammates Matt Tennant #65 and Brandon Robinson #2 stand on September 20, 2008 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hil

Ever since they cost Notre Dame a chance to compete for a National Championship in 1993, Boston College has been a major thorn in Notre Dame's side. This year they just don't match up.

The Irish should have no trouble in this game that is in San Antonio. Dayne Crist will be in the game in the third quarter.

Not this time Navy

Remember this monumental upset two years ago in South Bend? Well it's not happening this year.

Lou Holtz can Tell Mark May Where To Go

MORGANTOWN, WV - DECEMBER 1: Running back LeSean McCoy #25 of the Pittsburgh Panthers rushes upfield against the West Virginia Mountaineers during the second half at Milan Puskar Stadium December 1, 2007 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Pittsburgh defeated

This is a game I will take a lot of joy in winning because of Mark May. Last year was the epic 4 overtime thriller that could have gone either way. They lost Leshon McCoy and the Irish are a year older. That will show.

Connecticut gives the Irish a scare

EAST HARTFORD, CT - NOVEMBER 3: Members of the University of Connecticut Huskies run onto the field against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Rentschler Field November 3, 2007 in East Hartford, Connecticut. (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

Connecticut is a team that scares me. They are a program on the rise and don't get alot of exposure. However, at this point the Irish will have too much confidence with all their victories.

The Irish Complete a Perfect Season at Stanford.

STANFORD, CA - SEPTEMBER 20: Quarterback Tavita Pritchard #14 of the Stanford Cardinal passes against the San Jose State Spartans at Stanford Stadium on September 20, 2008 in Stanford, California. (Photo by Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images)

Stanford always plays Notre Dame tough and they are also a program on the rise. I really like the job that Jim Harbaugh has done. Having said that, the Irish have a chance to play in the title game on the line. They will not let it slip away.

Gators Win Another National Title

ATLANTA - DECEMBER 06: Quarterback Tim Tebow #15 of the Florida Gators talks with head coach Urban Meyer as they celebrate their 31-20 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship on December 6, 2008 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is where the luck runs out for the Irish. Florida is just too much and looks unbeatable. The Irish give it quite an effort but come up short in the BCS Title game.

Florida 38, Notre Dame 27

Still a great season
