DeAngelo Williams posted a picture to his social media accounts on Monday that would make his mother and father proud.

The Carolina Panthers running back uploaded a split image of a business-class plane ticket and a man sitting in Marines dress blues at the airport. Williams tweeted the image with an explanation that he always gives up his seat to members of the U.S. military.

Williams also uploaded the photo to Facebook, writing that the man was unaware he’d soon be sitting in the premium section at the front of the plane.

“He doesn’t know it yet but he will be sitting in this seat when he boards the plane I always give up my 1st class seat! #isalutethetroops,” Williams writes.

Naturally, the denizens of the Internet still found reasons to fault the running back for his kindness, saying he posted the image for PR purposes and may have given his seat to a man only posing as a Marine.

Williams, however, was content with his choice and told his detractors to relax.

“I always do that and for those of you that are saying I shouldn’t have posted keep calm and enjoy my page and happy 4th of July (it’s called being patriotic for life),” Williams wrote.

Let the haters hate, Williams. You keep being you and offering up unsolicited kindnesses. One day it’ll catch on.
