Cricketer Adam Gilchrist Shows What Facing Bouncer Looks Like in a GoPro Helmet

Mark PattersonUK Staff WriterJuly 7, 2014

Adam Gilchrist gave fans a fresh and unusual perspective on what it's like to be a batsman when he wore a GoPro camera on his helmet in the MCC XI vs. Rest of the World XI game at Lord's on Saturday.

The former Australian great's footage was uploaded onto YouTube by the ground, showing how little time there is to react when a pace bowler comes at you at around 90 mph.

From 22 yards at that sort of speed, the batsman has around half a second to judge the ball and play a shot.

As Gilchrist shows by playing a straight drive for four and pulling Shaun Tait away for another boundary, that takes a bit of talent.
