The Sharks prevailed in a tough Game Five at 'The Shark Tank' in San Jose against the Dallas Stars Friday night. The final score was 3-2 with a Joe Pavelski goal deciding the proceedings early in overtime.
The Sharks were lucky even to be there at the conclusion of 60 minutes. They were down 2-0 with less than 14 minutes remaining in the third stanza.
The Stars had two goals disallowed upon further review earlier in the contest. One was a questionable reversal on a skate redirect by Brendan Morrow.
Either would have provided a crushing 3-0 lead, insurmountable for the Sharks.
The Sharks were fortunate and now must return to Dallas on Sunday for a game 6 that will truly be a gut check for the squad. The Dallas crowd will be rocking and the Stars will be 'heck-bent' on the heels of two disappointing losses.
If the Sharks can win an improbable Game Six, the final game would be epic back in San Jose.
My money is on the Stars to prevail in Game Six.
I am an avid Shark fan, but I feel the Stars have dominated this series for the most part.
Should my Sharks take that Game 6, I will pose the question:
Do you know the way to San Jose?

The fact that San Jose has even forced a Game 6 is incredible in itself. I'm thrilled by the effort being made this year in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. 3 series to Game 7 and 3 to a Game 6 in the first round. In Round Two it's been all about elimination avoidance. Montreal is trying to fend off elimination as we speak, the Rangers avoided the brooms by beating Pittsburgh in Game 4, and your Sharks have twice thwarted the Stars' attempts to move on to the Western Conference Finals. It's been an exciting postseason thus far, can't wait to see what's left.

The Sharks have sucked it up and extended the series despite a daunting challenge to snatch game 6 in Dallas tonight. Kudos go to the Stars for their suffocating defense and team speed that lends to opportunites in the offensive zone.
I wish my Sharks the best in Dallas this evening, but think Dallas might just have the formula down pat one that has been so effective to this point.
Either team will enjoy a one day respite and then engage the 'Eye Of The Storm', the Detroit Red Wings, your Stanley Cup Champions.
