First of all, Let me just say that it is very difficult to choose the Top Ten Wrestlers of All Time.
I've made a list of the Ten, that I think have had the most influence and have had the total package as far a wrestling ability, charisma and most importantly character depth.
I also focused less on the early ages of Wrestling because it was before wrestling hit its peak.
Here is My Top Ten List and Why:
10. "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes
Dusty started long before he peaked, but He shined during the 1980's.
Dusty fit in at the right time. He had a knack for Mic Skills, with his "Common Man" and "Son of a Plumber" promos.
He was the perfect Babyface to fit Ric Flair's Heel. He wasn't in the best of shape, but he could wrestle an hour and that is longer than most of the WWE locker room can withstand today.
Dusty was an amazing performer and a star Face. He will always be "The American Dream" and that gets him in the Top Ten.
9."The Game" Triple H
Okay, so many will disagree and say either he's better than ninth or he isn't worthy.
I didn't give him Top Five because he is the Boss' Son-In-Law and without Vince, he wouldn't be nowhere near Flair's Title Mark.
For the positive, Triple H is an asset to WWE. He has character depth and he has been dragged through the crapper to get where he is.
Triple H took the fall for The Kliq incident. He even was there when DX lost HBK. Triple H is a good wrestler, a good champion and deserves to be in the Top Ten.
8. Sting
Sting goes in because he was just marvelous in the ring. I will go out on a limb and say that in the 90's he was in the Top 5 most watched Superstars.
He made it fun to watch. He is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, and he was a marketable champion. The only reason he doesn't go in my Top 5 is because he never worked heel.
Sting is still pretty active in TNA, Oh how I wish he would go to WWE, but that will never happen. Sting is a great athlete and a huge draw which earns him his spot on this list.
7. The Undertaker
The greatest "Big Man" other than Andre to ever grace The Squared Circle. He has some of the biggest influence on younger audiences in history. His character depth is brilliant.
Oh and did I mention he is a hell of a wrestler and entertainer. He has been loyal to Vince and has definitely earned his Nickname "The Phenom".
Even though he's changed his look over the years, he has always fit in and is an incredible draw for the company. WWE is lucky to have a guy with that much marketability.
Flair has his titles and Taker has his Wrestlemania victories, neither of which should ever be broken.
The Undertaker has "Tombstoned" his mark into history and deserves Top Ten status.
6. Bret "The Hitman" Hart
Even though personally I loathe his promo abilities, which to me he earns a goose-egg, I would be stupid not to put him on this list.
His technical skills are unmatched. I do have mixed feelings about him because of The Montreal Screwjob, and I am a firm believer in the phrase "Bret screwed Bret."
I also don't care for his whiny reputation. All that aside he is a great wrestler, a decent draw, and his matches with HBK or Stone Cold were simply awesome.
The reason he misses Top 5 is because of his poor speaking, lack of charisma and just overall attitude.
5. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
The Greatest Talker the business has ever seen. He could fire any crowd or opponent up with three or less words. He had the crowd eating out of his hand.
His style in the ring was limited throughout the 90's but he still had enough to pump you up. Piper could brawl, wrestle, box, or just plain old fight.
Piper was also a HUGE draw. It's a shame he never got a run with the World title. He would have been a great champion. The Hot Rod exhilarated fans and he deserves to be in My Top 5.
4. Stone Cold Steve Austin
"The Toughest S.O.B" in wrestling history. Austin makes the Top 5 because he made the WWF Attitude Era. He brought a new face to the fore-front of Pro-Wrestling.
He had the look, the skill, and great mic skills. Stone Cold did what everyone wanted to do. He destroyed The Corporate World of the WWE.
He drank beer, had a foul mouth, and every now and then He slugged his Boss whenever he felt it necessary.
He was the single biggest Draw in Wrestling during that time, and he was humble about it.
Stone Cold Steve Austin raised hell and won our hearts every night. He earned No. 4, "and that's the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so!"
3.) "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels is the single best performer WWE has ever seen. He can completely win you over in any situation.
Even a few years back when he went up against Hogan, he still was the fan favorite. HBK is so charismatic and he can captivate any audience. Shawn Michaels has always performed at a five-star level.
Over the past few years he has had the best matches on the card, and steals the show at every Wrestlemania. HBK will always be the headliner, Mr. Wrestlemania, and above all The Showstopper!
2. "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan
What else can you say about the Biggest Draw in Wrestling History? Hulk Hogan is a Mega-Star in Wrestling. He has more merchandise than Michael Jordan.
Hogan dominated the 80's and 90's. He created the NWO, and had the best heel turn in wrestling history.
Hogan was a very limited wrestler, but he could sell the hell out of the moves he knew. He did the impossible on many occasions and made you love him one day and hate him the next.
Hogan is a genuine "gem." Even though his ego got the best of him sometimes, he more than made up for it with his character depth. What do you say, Hulk...One More Match?
1.) "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair
Big Surprise? I think not. Ric Flair is number 1 because he is Wrestling's Total Package.
He is a star. He is the greatest World Champion in the history of Professional Wrestling. He is the Greatest Heel in history. Overall, He is the Greatest Wrestler who ever lived.
Throughout his illustrious 36-year career, he has been on top. He is responsible for the inspiration of more younger talent than any wrestler. He is Wrestling's Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, just about anything.
Ric Flair is the be all end all of Wrestling, nobody will ever fill the boots he has left in Wrestling. He is the Only Diamond in the Business.
"Learn to Love It, Learn to Live With It, because He is the Best thing going." Ric Flair will always be "The Man"!!!!! Wooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Finished!
