Louis van Gaal may look to Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria as he continues the much-needed rebuild of Manchester United's squad, with the Argentinian winger reportedly being offered to the Old Trafford outfit.
The 26-year-old's contract negotiations with Real have supposedly stalled and they have now offered him to United for £40 million, per Paul Brown in the Daily Star:
United have been keeping tabs on Di Maria but value him at closer to £30m.
He is understood to have reservations about joining a club who will not be playing Champions League football next season though.
Recently, Di Maria's agent Jorge Mendes intimated that United are definitely an option for the player, per Gary Jones in the Daily Star, while the forward himself admitted his future in Madrid is uncertain, per Charles Reynolds in the Independent:
"We do not know if I’ll stay in Madrid. I’m happy, but I’ll see what happens."
Despite starring for the La Liga giants last season as they won the Champions League, it seems that Real are prepared to get rid of Di Maria as they look to bring in Colombia World Cup star James Rodriguez, per Marca via 101 Great Goals:
Di Maria scored four goals and provided 17 assists in La Liga last season, per WhoScored.com, his creativity unsurpassed by an other player in 2013-14, per Squawka:

United were lacking in wide areas last season as Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Nani all underwhelmed and were very wasteful in attack.
Di Maria would be a significant upgrade on all three of those players and would bring genuine quality to the Red Devils' flank, quality that has been missing since Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford.
He is currently in Brazil at the World Cup playing for Argentina, and while he has had a poor tournament thus far, per sports journalist Christian Radnedge, he did score the winning goal against Switzerland to see his side through to the last eight:
Di Maria has often played in the shadow of big-name stars like Ronaldo and Gareth Bale at Real Madrid and his quality often seems to go unnoticed.
He may relish the opportunity to star at United alongside Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney and he would be guaranteed a starting berth.
Van Gaal has already signed Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera as he rebuilds a side that finished seventh in the Premier League last season. However, more quality is needed and in Di Maria, United could potentially bag themselves one of the world's best players.
