As annual rodeos go, you won't find many bigger and/or better than the Calgary Stampede. Every year in July, a rodeo, exhibition and festival of epic proportions takes place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Aside from the competitions, there are awesome sites and scenery to take in for visitors.

It's an incredible 10-day event that is also known as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. The Chicago Bears offense might have something to say about that this season, but since the Stampede has held the title for longer, we'd have to say it wins out.

This year the event begins on July 4 and runs until the 13th. With each edition aiming to top the previous year's level of excitement, expect 2014 to be another great year for the show.

Obviously, there's a rodeo, which is the world’s richest tournament-style event of its kind, per the event's site.

Aside from that standard stampede attraction, here's a closer look at two more popular happenings.

Bell Adrenaline Ranch

What happens when extreme sports athletes meet up with rodeo concepts? You get the Bell Adrenaline Ranch. Though it hasn't always been a staple of the Calgary Stampede, it is growing in popularity after wowing crowds in the form of an on-water display last year.

This will be the first time the exhibition is held at the Calgary Stampede.

Programming entertainment coordinator Andrew Shaw said this of the exciting new attraction, per "The Stampede is thrilled to have champions of extreme sport at Bell adrenaline ranch - world record setting athletes, jaw dropping stunts and for the first time in Canada XPOGO."

The BAR is just an example of how the Calgary Stampede is evolving with the times.

The GMC Rangeland Derby

As one of the major favorites at the Stampede, the Derby has multiple events that produce an aggregate score.

The barrel draw, the day, cumulative and drivers statistics are compiled to crown the winner of the Rangeland Derby. It's a complete chuck wagon showcase that connoisseurs of rodeo events can really appreciate.
