Adam Lallana took out a page in local south coast paper the Daily Echo to thank Southampton fans after completing a move to Liverpool on Tuesday.

Lallana, who had been with the Saints since childhood, wrote: "14 unforgettable years, the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you Saints fans for your endless support, a place in my heart forever."

Lallana is not the first to thank fans this way—Manchester City supporters and former manager Roberto Mancini swapped messages through the papers after he was sacked last summer, per the Manchester Evening News.
