According to The Mirror, England coach Fabio Capello has said that Manchester United can rejuvenate Michael Owen’s career now that he has joined them, and with this move, he could help the English squad in the 2010 World Cup, which would be Owen's fourth overall World Cup.
Capello also said that if anyone could get Owen into prime shape for the English team, it would be Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and if Owen could constantly find the back of the net for the Red Devils next season, he will be a lock for the team in South Africa in 2010.
Along with that, Capello stated that Owen has to show more heart than he did for Newcastle at the end of last season when they found themselves relegated into the Championship, because if he doesn't, he won't join the English national team.
In Capello's time as coach of the English national team, Owen has had only one appearance, which was against France last season and lasted only 45 minutes.
However, Owen has 40 goals in 89 matches during his international career, which is only nine off of Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 49 goals, which is a record that Owen wants to hold.
