Fox Sports personality Katie Nolan got into some messy field work on Monday while working the pro-Germany crowd at a World Cup viewing party in New York City.
Nolan did her best to hold it together through the segment, reporting the good time she witnessed while watching Germany’s tense, round-of-16 matchup against Algeria at an authentic German bar. It was, according to Nolan, a boozy, good time.
Nolan told her audience:
If you're wondering what this lovely hair product is I have in my hair, I'm told the German word for it is 'bier'. The finish everybody expected…the way we got there was a little more dramatic than Germany was hoping for.
The report continued without incident until one particularly happy fan walked up and began kissing Nolan on the cheek.
Let it be known: Katie Nolan is a cool customer. She doesn't crack.
The Fox Sports personality is probably one of the most unflappable young talents in the business. Nolan handled the smooches with aplomb but couldn't fight the onslaught that followed. As soon as the kissing fan pulled out of frame, another Germany fan wearing a Mesut Ozil jersey went in for the bear hug.
Fox, sensing a total breakdown, kicked the coverage back to the studio. Nolan later tweeted she was just glad she wasn't reporting from a French bar.
Touche, Ms. Nolan.
Germany will face France in the quarterfinals on Friday, while Nolan will presumably find a nice hug-and-smooch-free studio to watch the proceedings.
