Teemu was expected to retire after his team had won the Stanley Cup. He waited until late January 2008, before he signed a one year contract with the Ducks to help them close out the season and try for another Cup.
They fell short losing in the first round the Dallas Stars.
In September 2008, Teemu signed another contract with the Ducks, this one extending to two years.
This will be Teemu's final NHL contract. He currently has 127 goals and 134 assists from 2005 to 2009, making a total of 352 goals and 391 assists with the Ducks.
Teemu holds the Duck's franchise records in most goals, assists, points, power-play goals, and hat-tricks. Also holds the franchise single season records of most goals, points, and power-play goals.
Teemu Selanne has been a forceful player on the ice throughout his career putting up 579 goals and 633 assist for a total of 1212 points.
Teemu has only 21 goals to reach the 600th goal mark joining only 17 other players to have reached the feat, while doing so, hopefully adding one more Stanley Cup to his resume.
We all know he deserves it.
Loved him while he was on your team or hated him while he was playing against your team, Teemu Selanne's impact on the ice will be one that will be missed after the 2010 season comes to a close.
