Manuel Neuer's Heat Map During Germany vs. Algeria Looks More Like a Defender's

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's all-action performance in the team's win over Algeria produced an unusual—and much talked about—heat map at the 2014 World Cup.

Squawka captured the keeper's performance in the chart above. As you can see, he spent plenty of time outside the confines of his own penalty area, seeing more of the ball than many of the Algerians:

Germany held their nerve to win 2-1 in extra time and seal a quarter-final place against France.
