Brazil needed a penalty shoot-out win over Chile on Saturday to make progress into the World Cup quarter-finals.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, but Chile striker Mauricio Pinilla struck the crossbar in the dying seconds of extra-time to give the host nation a major fright.

Luiz Felipe Scolari's team eventually prevailed in the shoot-out with a 3-2 victory on penalties, but the host nation did not look impressive in the game in Belo Horizonte.

Brazil will now face Colombia in the quarter-finals with a question mark over the fitness of talismanic forward Neymar, as the Sunday Telegraph reported.

So can Brazil be regarded as a favourite to lift the World Cup on home soil after their display against Chile?
