Chelsea has confirmed the signing of Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge to a four-year contract.

"Chelsea Football Club is delighted to confirm that Daniel Sturridge has agreed to join the club on a four-year contract," a statement on the club's official website said.

"He will join the first team squad for pre-season training next week when the players return from their summer break."

Because the out-of-contract 19 year old is under 24, he cannot move for free on a Bosman ruling.

A tribunal will decide how much the Blues have to pay Mark Hughes' side, with reports suggesting City could get as much as £5 million.

The striker—a product of the youth system at Eastlands—made his debut for City in 2007 and scored six goals in 32 appearances.

He was part of the Manchester City youth team that beat Chelsea in the 2008 FA Youth Cup Final.
