Germany finished atop Group G after defeating the United States 1-0 behind a sole strike from Thomas Muller.

The Americans still advance to the knockout stages thanks to a superior goal differential to Portugal, who are level on points at four.

Muller finally had the breakthrough for the Germans, as Thomas Muller struck from long range in the 54th minute.
