Tiger Woods has returned to action, and while he did not set the golf world on fire with his play at the Quicken Loans National in his first round, there were some encouraging signs at Congressional.
Tiger shot a three-over-par 74, but he closed out his round with three birdies in the final six holes. Until that point, Woods struggled with his game, as he was six over and sitting in last place.
Woods did not appear to show any ill effects from his recent back surgery that had kept him out of action since March. He will tee it up for his second round Friday afternoon with playing partners Jason Day and Jordan Spieth, giving Woods maximum time to recover from Thursday's round.
