Philadelphia has always been proud to be linked to Benjamin Franklin, and now, the city's NBA team has decided to incorporate the historical figure into its brand.

The Philadelphia 76ers unveiled a new logo that features Franklin dribbling a basketball. The 76ers get major points for mixing history and basketball on this one.

For those fans who are hoping to see Franklin on the team's jerseys, you are out of luck. 76ers Director of Public Relations Michael Preston explained what the logo will be used for:

The Ben Franklin logo is part of an identity package that the league will primarily use for merchandising, but at this time the team doesn't have plans to implement into our uniforms or use as a secondary mark.

As awesome as it would be to see Franklin on the uniform, it looks like this logo will only be used on merchandise.
