Rumours are circulating the Internet that Cristiano Ronaldo's new haircut is a tribute to a Spanish child who suffers from a brain condition.

The Independent is one of many outlets to have picked up on a Tweet posted Sunday night. It cites the story of Erik Ortiz Cruz, who required brain surgery. Ronaldo will pay £60,000 for the operation, according to a report in the Metro.

The Portugal international is yet to comment on the reports.
