O Canada...

Nothing better than a beautiful holiday afternoon Blue Jays game. In some sharp red duds the Jays decided not to dissapoint by salvaging at least 1 win from the Rays to snap their 4 game losing streak with a 5-0 Dominion Day domination.

Ricky Romero was again dynamite on the hill pitching 8 shutout innings, scattering only 4 hits and whiffing 7 and picking off 2! He worked himself out of trouble on multiple occasions and just didn't seemed to be phased by anything happening around him (like defensive lapses).Romero's ERA is now a sparkling 2.85, which combined with a 6-3 record might make it time to start speculating about a possible rookie of the year bid.

Jason Frasor worked the 9th and finished things off striking out the side to send the 30,000+ crowd happy.

Offensively the Jays got contributions from all over the line-up. Rod Barajas, Adam Lind and Scott Rolen all homered late in the game, adding to Marco Scutaro's RBI double. Lind went 2-4 and scored twice hitting in the 3 spot for the benched Vernon Wells, another example of some excellent line-up shifting done by Cito. Lind-Rolen hitting 3-4 seems to be a pretty kickass combination, but that part of that can be attributed to the pair hitting back-to-back jacks in the 8th to seal the win.

The Jays are now rolling into the Bronx for a big 4-game set with the damn Yankees. Game one is Friday with a big match-up of Brian Tallet v.s. an overpaid douchebag.
