Honduras 1-2 Ecuador

Scorers: Costly (31'), Enner Valencia (34', 65')

Ecuador earned the win it needed to stay in contention in Group E as Enner Valencia scored twice over Honduras in a 2-1 win. Both teams lost their opening matches of the World Cup. Honduras tried to use their muscle but Ecuador broke on the counter the pace. And it was Honduras who scored first. Carlo Costly opened the scoring, but Enner Valencia scored minutes later after sliding on to the ball on the near side of the goalkeeper Noel Valladares. Valencia then doubled his total when he latched on to a cross from Walter Ayovi.
