According to various media outlets, the New York Rangers quickly replaced Scott Gomez by signing former Minnesota Wild Marian Gaborik to a five-year contract late Wednesday.
The deal is said to be worth $7.5 million annually.
Gaborik, 27, played in just 17 games last season due to injury. But in two of his previous three seasons, he tallied at least 63 points (he had 40 points in 44 games in 2006-07).
The Rangers have been involved in a flurry of changes, with Colton Orr leaving for Toronto and Donald Brashear coming to New York as a free agent.
