The New York Rangers finally have their sniper.
Marian Gaborik, one of the most highly sought-after free agents this summer, has agreed to a five-year contract with the Blueshirts that will pay him $7.5 million annually.
Gaborik, who was injured most of last season, had spent his entire career with the Minnesota Wild. The Rangers hope that he will provide them with the dynamic scoring option the team has lacked the past several years.
The Gaborik signing was largely made possible when the Rangers unloaded the contract of Scott Gomez, who makes the same per year as Gaborik, to the Montreal Canadiens.
Gaborik, 27, has 219 goals and 218 assists in 502 career games with Minnesota.
