Robin van Persie set the world alight with his brilliant diving header in Netherlands' World Cup contest against Spain last week. In the process, he sparked an Internet trend.
Though countless fans have taken to Twitter to show off their "#Persieing," in which one lies flat with arms out to imitate RVP's famous dive, one man will hold particular significance to the Manchester United striker.
That man is Wim Ras, Van Persie's 93-year-old grandfather, who joined in the fun Wednesday. Per Omroep Brabant, as translated by 101 Great Goals:
The grandfather of the Manchester United striker produced the #persieing pose and explained that he could still get down to do the new Dutch craze because he used to be a gymnast: 'But its getting more difficult because it's not a position you get into every day.'
Not bad for a 93-year-old...and if his name sounds familiar to you, there's a reason. Bleacher Report's Elko Born reminds us of an earlier moment, when "Opa Wim" was in the spotlight:
