Daily Haze

The guys over at Yahoo! Fantasy Sports recently asked this question: Braylon Edwards or Chad Johnson? Not even close, if you ask me.

Chad Johnson had his day in the sun. No doubt there was a time he was a top-tier—or at least very close to it—fantasy wide receiver. But those days seem long gone despite Chad still being in the prime of his career.

Too many question marks. Will he show up? How much of his game will be antics instead of production? All the whining and complaining. Trash talk that cannot be backed up on a consistent basis. Players and coaches getting tired of him on and off the field. If there is a player that has worn out his welcome more than Johnson, I would like to meet him.

Meanwhile, Edwards appears to be one of the steals in fantasy mock drafts going on right now. A top-tier receiver heading into last year, he literally (and figuratively) dropped the ball. But in this, a contract season, expect Edwards to bounce back in a big way.

For the record, in case you were wondering, I refuse to call Chad by his new moniker. If he puts up on the field this year, I may change that stance.

Today’s Michael Jackson song: "Man in the Mirror."

Here are today’s great reads:

  • Remember to vote for the best fantasy football team name for the month of June. Winner competes for the grand prize in September. [The Hazean]
  • Keeper leagues owners are pouring over cheat sheets and rankings trying to figure out who to keep, but it also would be pretty helpful to know who not to keep. [FFToolBox]
  • One of these seasons, Steven Jackson is going to stay healthy and challenge for the top spot among fantasy running backs. Personally, I would not want to miss that train. [Bruno Boys]
  • Michael Turner handled his first starting gig with relative ease last season, but this could be a big year for Jerious Norwood if Turner’s body starts to break down. [Pancake Blocks]
