The club has just released Arsenal's third kit for the 2009-'10 season. It seems, from the pictures at Arsenal.com, that the designers at Nike love superimposing kits onto players because they're so excited they don't take the time to realise that their kits are horrible.

This kit is not Arsenal at all. It looks like someone took the away kit from two seasons ago, gray-scaled it, and added pinstripes. It might look like something you'd wear for a game of golf—not football.

While the blue kit is somewhat reminiscent of more successful times, this black and white kit is completely unseen and hopefully unused next season. With a red home kit and a blue away kit I doubt this will be put into use.

The end result is that it looks like we're Fulham. No disrespect to them, but Arsenal is a world class team that needs to use its traditional colours. Whenever I see a white Arsenal kit I think of the Champions League against Liverpool, and its not a good memory to bring up.

The history of the white collar shirt might be something else, with variations of it being used until the late 1930's. But lets face it—no Arsenal fan alive today remembers it and thinks that is symbolic of Arsenal.

The 2009-'10 season is going to make radio successful with the display of ugly kits being put out for the upcoming campaign. Chelsea home kit anyone?
