After Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo renewed his contract with Italian side Fiorentina, despite announcing he was looking to depart the club, Arsenal now turns its attention to an even better midfielder in Lorik Cana.

Arsenal has failed to find a solid, defensive midfielder since Patrick Viera departed the club in 2005. Arsenal also needs someone to partner with captain Cesc Fabregas in the center midfield. Marsielle captain Lorik Cana is a perfect fit.

The Albanian is aggressive, smart, has an excellent passing range, great leadership, and a solid tackle. Traits that the Arsenal midfield lacks dearly.

The 26-year-old signature is being chased by a number of top clubs, such as Everton, Hamburg, and Tottenham. Although Hamburg is the only club to have offered a bid for the Albanian international. Arsenal would be paying around £5-10 million to add the talented midfielder to its side, that amount is more than affordable for the North London side.

Cana has expressed interest in joining the Gunners and has stated that he longs to play in the English Premier League.

If Arsenal manages to sign the Albanian international, it will allow a better, free-flowing attack. With Cana sitting back and handling the defensive duties the likes of Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas and Andrei Arshavin will attack more freely.

A no-doubt smart move for Wenger to try and attack; it's just a question of whether he can sign Lorik Cana.
