Reports are coming out that Spanish international Rubén de la Red will still be with the capital club next year but will not be playing any games.

Last October he was admitted to hospital when he collapsed during a match of Copa Del Rey against Real Unión and was later initially diagnosed with effort syncope and did not play another game during the remainder of the season.

Unfortunately for him, all further medical tests have failed to provide anything conclusive or substantial on his situation so he will miss the next season as well while tests will be carried out every two months to definitely assess his health.

Whether he will ever play again for club and national team is also in serious doubt as both teams will be wary of that in particular because of what happened to Antonio Puerta of Sevilla when he fell to the ground because of a cardiac arrest while playing a La Liga game against Getafe on 25 August 2007 and died three days later.

The word buzzing around is that he may take up a coaching job with one of the teams as he has completed many coaching programs.
