Xabi Alonso has recreated the horror challenge from Nigel de Jong in the 2010 World Cup final as Spain and Netherlands prepare to clash again in the 2014 tournament.

Alonso, in partnership with Adidas, appears in two evocative shots, looking both bruised and bandaged.

In one, the camera takes the shot from approximately where De Jong's face would have been.

Even though the 2014 rematch will take place on a different continent, some of the participants remain the same—Alonso and De Jong included.
