Since Cesc Fabregas' move from Arsenal to Barcelona, he had remained somewhat of a loved figure in certain factions for his not-so-secret love for the North London club even after the move.
Of course, on Thursday, when Fabregas' rumoured move to Chelsea was made official, he was immediately vilified by most Arsenal types, even though the Gunners had the first option to sign him.
Congrats Cescky. Shame it wasn't the red part of North London but I wish you the best— Thierry Henry (@ThierryHenry) June 12, 2014
Fittingly, a series of interviews made the rounds in the immediate aftermath of Fabregas saying that he'd never play for a Premier League team other than Arsenal.
If some day I leave Arsenal it will never be to sign for another English team. I'm very sure.
How it happened (Torres), in so few hours, I didn't expect it. I didn't imagine Torres leaving the Premiership, but neither that he would leave in the middle of the season. That said, I believe that it was a good decision.
In the aftermath, unsurprisingly, red Arsenal Fabregas shirts were burned.
