Tommy Hanson May Be On Pace For 432 Wins

Like many of you probably did, I recently read Heartbeat of the Bronx's article about Chien-Ming Wang's ETA at 300 games.

That got me thinking, what about Tommy Hanson?

So, I used some proportions and found that in 12-and-a-half years (when he's 34), Tommy Hanson should be a member of the 300-win club.

That's winning four out of every five starts, as he is now with 30 starts per year (or 24 wins every season).

Stretch that torrid (albeit unreasonable) pace out until the 22-year-old phenom is 40, and you get 432 wins.

That's good enough to fall in second between Cy Young (511) and Walter Johnson (417).

Now, I'm not saying that this will happen (not by a long shot), but this raises a pretty good question; how many wins is Tommy capable of getting?

He has the nasty, overpowering stuff and has shown impeccable poise when the pressure's on.

Is he young enough and (more importantly) durable enough to reach the 300-win plateau?

I am tempted to say yes.

Even though the sample size is far too small to make any rationalized decisions, the talent tells me that he could one day join Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson and others in this very exclusive club.

At the very least, Hanson should get a Cy Young.

No matter what, I just can't shake the thought of thinking how far he could go.

This may seem stupid to even be saying something like this five starts into his career, but Hanson has already set a record as the first NL rookie to beat the Yanks and BoSox in consecutive starts.

I don't think that's the only record number or milestone No. 48 is going to reach.

So, what do you think?

Who will be the next one to reach 300?

Who is going to be the best of this emerging generation (Price, Hanson, Kershaw, etc.)?
