When an athlete plays for a city, fans expect them to support all the teams in the area. If the athlete cheers for another team, especially if it's a rival, expect some backlash.
As The Washington Post's Dan Steinberg noted back in 2012, Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper has previously admitted to being a Dallas Cowboys fan. Being a fan is one thing, but donning the hat of the Washington Redskins' biggest rival is another.
Harper sported a Cowboys hat during a recent trip to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. As you could imagine, that didn't sit well with Washington fans.
Once the Nationals outfielder returns from the disabled list, Washington will love him once again.
