Liverpool Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of June 9

    Liverpool continue to press ahead with their efforts in the transfer market, with midfielder Emre Can agreeing to join the club last week—at least in principle.

    The Reds are expected to be one of the most active sides in this current window in preparation for a first return to the Champions League in five years. Plenty of names have been linked with both entrances and exits.

    Here, we’ll keep track of all this week’s news and rumours as Brendan Rodgers seeks to get yet more business done following the arrivals of Can and Rickie Lambert.

Liverpool Interested in Hoffenheim's Roberto Firmino

    According to the Metro, Liverpool are ready to open talks with Hoffenheim for their Brazilian midfielder Roberto Firmino.

    The 22-year-old playmaker excelled in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 16 goals and providing 11 assists in 33 appearances.

Stoke Strugggling to Complete Oussama Assaidi Deal

    Stoke may have missed out on signing winger Oussama Assaidi from Liverpool on a permanent basis, according to the Stoke Sentinel.

    The Moroccan winger impressed on loan in the Potteries last season, but both a prohibitive price tag and an ongoing knee problem have thrown a permanent deal into doubt.  


Fabio Borini to Cost Sunderland £10.5m

    Liverpool are set to quote Sunderland around £10.5 million for the services of Fabio Borini, who impressed on loan at the Mackems last season.

    Brendan Rodgers is in no rush to sell the Italian, but the Northern Echo claim that he would be open to selling him if the price was right. 

Arsenal to Launch Pepe Reina Bid?

    Arsenal could move for Pepe Reina after the goalkeeper's proposed move to Napoli fell through.

    The Daily Mirror report that Arsene Wenger could be set to make a £5 million move for the Spaniard, who is currently with his country's World Cup squad.

Rodgers Targets Schalke Teenager Max Meyer

    The Metro report that Liverpool are set to launch an £8 million bid for exciting Schalke teenager Max Meyer, who is one of the brightest young talents in Germany.

    The playmaker scored seven goals in 41 games last season, and is thought to be keen on a move to Anfield if he is guaranteed plenty of first-team football.


Dejan Lovren Transfer Request Revealed

    Southampton and Croatia defender Dejan Lovren submitted a transfer request at the end of May, the Daily Mail's Neil Ashton has revealed.

    Lovren is believed to want to leave for Champions League football, and could follow Rickie Lambert in making the move from St Mary's to Anfield.


Pepe Reina Open to Napoli Stay

    Pepe Reina is open to a return to Napoli now that his loan spell in Italy is over.

    The Daily Star report that the Serie A side appear to be struggling to afford the Spain World Cup goalkeeper, who nevertheless, speaking in the third person, said:

    There is the possibility to stay at Napoli.

    It will depend on Liverpool, Napoli and on Reina.

    I have been really happy at Napoli and I feel loved.

    There is a project at Napoli that makes one dream. I have never ruled out the possibility to remain at Napoli.

Nottingham Forest's Karl Darlow Targeted as Backup

    The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool and Tottenham are eyeing the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow as backup for their No. 1s.

    Spurs are believed to want Darlow to act as a challenger for Hugo Lloris, although the report claims that Liverpool have been monitoring the 23-year-old for longer.

Adam Johnson and Fabio Borini Involved in Swap Deal?

    Liverpool could offer Fabio Borini to Sunderland in a bid to sign their winger Adam Johnson, according to the Daily Express.

    The report states that Everton have failed in a bid to sign Johnson on loan, and that has alerted the Reds to the possibility if signing the Englishman whilst sending Borini back to a club he excelled at last season.

Alberto Moreno Move Stalls over Transfer Payment

    The transfer saga surrounding Alberto Moreno has taken another twist, with the Sevilla left-back's switch to Anfield now held up by a disagreement over the structure of the deal, according to the Daily Express.

    With Moreno's teammate Ivan Rakitic lined up for a move to Barcelona, Sevilla are now looking to restructure the deal for the left-back, and are believed to want more money up front. 

Porto Set Sights on Suso Move

    According to talkSPORT, Reds youngster Suso is a target for European giants Porto. The Portuguese club were impressed with the 20-year-old’s stint on loan at La Liga club Almeria last season.

    The Spaniard is undoubtedly talented and enjoyed a spell in the team when Rodgers first arrived at Anfield in 2012, but the Reds boss might now be willing to allow him to move on given the wealth of attacking talent currently at his disposal. 

Xherdan Shaqiri Gives Nothing Away over Future

    Bayern Munich and Switzerland star Xherdan Shaqiri remains a target for Liverpool, according to Chisanga Malata of the Daily Star, but the midfielder is staying coy about where his future lies.

    The paper report that when asked where he’ll be playing next season whilst at a pre-World Cup training camp, Shaqiri merely stated:

    "Still at Bayern Munich!"

Alberto Moreno "Flies In" to Liverpool to Complete Move

    The Daily Mail claim that Alberto Moreno's long-expected switch to Liverpool is on the verge of completion after the Sevilla full-back flew into England with his father and agent.

    Moreno attended the wedding of Liverpool's Luis Alberto at the weekend, according to the report, and he is now expected to put the finishing touches to a £16.2 million move. 

Samed Yesil Set for Turkish Loan Switch

    Forward Samed Yesil could bring his unhappy Liverpool career to a temporary halt and join Turkish side Trabzonspor on loan, according to talkSPORT.

    The German-born forward of Turkish origin has suffered two serious knee injuries during his Anfield career, with his only two appearances coming in the League Cup in 2012/13.
