Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno is set to travel to Anfield to complete his move to Liverpool after the two clubs agreed terms for the 21-year-old.

As reported by Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo, via 101 Great Goals, Moreno was instructed on Sunday to travel to Liverpool to confirm the deal, and the player could be unveiled as soon as Tuesday.

The long-rumoured move appears to be close to completion, with Spanish newspaper AS reporting that the fee will be in the region of £22 million:

It marks a significant success for Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, who has been an admirer of the Spaniard for some time and is in need of bolstering his defence after the Reds let in 50 Premier League goals last season.

The youngster's pace and skill will fit well into Rodgers' counter-attacking style, as Moreno now seems destined for Merseyside despite dismissing recent rumours of a move away from Sevilla, per Tom Maston of

All I know is that I've been a Sevillista since I was a kid. My future? I do not know about that.

That's a matter for my father and my agent to deal with. I have four years [left on my contract], I am dedicated to play and I'm happy here.

Moreno played an important role for Sevilla in 2013-14 as they won the Europa League with a final victory over Benfica, and they came fifth in La Liga.

The protracted talks between Sevilla and Liverpool for Moreno's signature had initially been thought to include Reds midfielder Suso in a partial swap deal.

However, the 20-year-old is now reported to be of interest to Porto, who are looking to snap up the winger, per Portuguese newspaper O Jogo:

The Spaniard has only one year left on his contract at Anfield and does not seem to be a big part of Rodgers' future plans.

The Northern Irish manager has been active early on in the transfer window, with Rickie Lambert already signed from Southampton.

Rodgers looks to be bringing in a high calibre of player as Liverpool attempt to strengthen their squad with Champions League football on the horizon next season.

Continued success in the transfer window should see the Reds contend for the Premier League and in Europe next term, but Moreno's capture will arguably be the most significant of any Liverpool deals this summer.
