There is an accident about to happen. Oh wait a minute that was this past weekend in our own house. You know how you can't take your eyes away from an impending disaster? That's how I feel about my Mets! I know what's going to happen, just not exactly how or when.
Are they going to make me wait until the eighth inning or drive the bamboo under my fingernails right in the first. When winning a game by more than one run and not having the tying or winning run on second becomes your definition of a " laugher" then something is very wrong in Metsville! What is being done to save this floundering ship?
I am glad that interflog is over for the year!
I can't tell if we can pull this out or not but it certainly seems that to get in the playoffs we will have to win the East because the other Wild Card Teams are in front of us are strong and gaining ground. Right now we are three games back in the Wild Card standings, but there are five teams in front of us. A very big task.
In the NL East its purely dumb luck that we are just 2.5 games behind, with "only" the Phreaking Phillies in front of us.
Getting back to the business of NL baseball today we need to make hay against the Brew Crew while the rest of the East beats up on each other. We can make a move if only they would cooperate and we could figure out how to win a game or even gasp two in a row!
It certainly doesn't help when Omar and Jerry are making statements that are diametrically opposite to each other. Can we hold on until relief comes off the DL list or do we have to find a way to win with what we have here right now. Either philosophy is flawed. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to mortgage the future for right now, but can we at least take out a short-term loan.
Omar will never say we are in a rebuilding mode not with the payroll he has committed. But if we are not rebuilding and we are not dealing to get help what in the heck are we doing?
We are in the same win now scenario as the last 3-4 years and I am tired of the big-splash moves with no result. Either do something on the trade market for a bat or put in some rookies and leave them alone to grow into the jobs.
As a final point, loyalty to a player is fine, but if he's not doing the job for an extended period (Tatis) you must cut bait. Get me a hungry rookie with young legs and a short compact swing that has a chance to make contact.
A hit all I want is a hit with a runner in scoring position...please.
Well, this was my first effort at writing and is has been cathartic. Maybe not interesting for others but I really needed to vent. Thanks for indulging me. Please be kind in your comments.
