MLB Power Rankings: An Updated Look at Where All 30 Teams Stand
Ben Margot/Associated Press

The Bay Area dominance continued this past week, as the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics proved they still belong at the top of the heap by taking care of business in their respective series.

Parity continues to reign behind them, and as a result there are two newcomers in the top 10 this week. There has been a shakeup at the bottom of the rankings as well, with the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros both playing very good baseball of late.

All that makes for a good deal of shuffling in this week's MLB power rankings.

When putting together these rankings on a weekly basis, the following factors are considered:

  • Previous week's record
  • Quality of opponents
  • Key injuries/trades
  • Recent performance beyond the last week

As we push ever closer to the summer months and the July trade season, teams will look to distinguish themselves as buyers or sellers over the next couple weeks. However, with so many teams hovering around .500, the list of sellers could wind up being a short one.

All that said, here is an updated look at where all 30 MLB teams currently stand. Be sure to check back here every Monday morning for the most recent edition of our MLB power rankings.
