U.S. Open Tee Times: Fun with Groups Featuring Victories, Locations, Skill Sets

While the PGA Tour drawsor says it drawsplayers from groups of winners and non-winners to create tee times for players at PGA Tour events, the USGA is under no obligation to prove anything in particular.  As a result, sometimes there are what you could call "fun groupings" at the U.S. Open. 

Here are some to look forward to next week at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort. 


Thursday (June 12), hole No. 1 / Friday (June 13), hole No. 10

U.S. Open champs: 

7:40 a.m.  1:25 p.m.  Webb Simpson, Charlotte, North Carolina; Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland; Graeme McDowell, Northern Ireland.

Best players never to have won a major unless you count The Players groups:

7:18 a.m.  1:03 p.m.  Sergio Garcia, Spain; Jason Day, Australia; Brandt Snedeker, Nashville, Tennessee.

7:29 a.m.  1:14 p.m.  Henrik Stenson, Sweden; Matt Kuchar, St. Simons Island, Georgia; Lee Westwood, England.

The Billy-Bob group:

8:13 a.m. – 1:58 p.m. – Billy Horschel, Ponte Vedra, Florida; Billy Hurley III, Annapolis, Maryland; Robert Allenby, Australia.

The Aussie Group:
