As July first quickly approaches, there are many quality NHL players that are no longer under contract with their respected NHL teams for the 09-10 campaign. As is the case especially with the Montreal Canadiens. Come July 1st, they will have the majority of their defensive core unsigned, as well as a few of their key players up front. Is it possible for a team to possibly recover from such vast losses, or will the free agent market prove to be too much for bob gainey to handle? Personally, I believe that the only way to potentially benefit from this mass loss of players would be to bring in a few new key players. It's unfortunate to say, but Saku koivu's days as a canadien may be coming to an end, as well as Alexei Kovalev. However, on the  bright side many of the players brought up from the AHL last season such as: Matt D'agostini have more than proved that they can perform and produce offensive numbers at the NHL level. Is Montreal in need of making a few big name signings? Or should they go for a more low key group of players that are much younger? July 1st should be a very interesting day in Montreal.
