    Liverpool have completed their first signing of the summer, but it appears as though it certainly won't be the last.

    Rickie Lambert has rejoined his boyhood club 17 years after leaving in a fairy-tale move from Southampton, with the England forward adding a depth and quality back-up option to Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge that simply wasn't there last season.

    The forward is likely to be joined by more new faces this summer, but just who will be arriving at Anfield?

    Here we keep track of all of this week's rumours.

Reds "Close to Completing" Xherdan Shaqiri Move

    The Daily Star claim that Liverpool are close to completing a £15 million deal for Bayern Munich and Switzerland midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

    The Star cite reports in Switzerland which claim that the deal is imminent, with the Reds targeting the classy midfielder as a cheaper alternative to Adam Lallana.

"Deal Agreed" for Sevilla's Alberto Moreno

    The Daily Mirror's David Anderson reports that sources in Spain claim a deal between Liverpool and Sevilla for the full-back Alberto Moreno has been agreed.

    Moreno, who narrowly missed out on a place in the Spanish World Cup squad, now looks set to move to Anfield for around £17.9 million.

Lazar Markovic Eyed as Adam Lallana Alternative

    With Liverpool growing frustrated at the failure to find a breakthrough in their attempts to sign Adam Lallana, the Reds have turned their attentions to Benfica's Lazar Markovic according to the Metro.

    The Serbian winger could be available for around £25 million, and Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen to snap him up. 

Liverpool Announce Emre Can Agreement

    Liverpool announced that they had agreed in principle to sign the German under-21 international Emre Can on the club's official website on Thursday.

    The statement read:

    Liverpool FC have today agreed a deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen to sign 20-year-old Emre Can, subject to documentation being completed.

    A versatile German youth international, the Frankfurt-born midfielder made 29 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring three goals.

    His contributions helped Leverkusen finish fourth and secure Champions League qualification, having joined the club from Bayern Munich last summer.

    Can clocked up seven appearances in Europe's elite competition during 2013-14, and has previously played at the European U21 Championship and the U17 World Cup.

Tottenham Not Interested in Alberto Moreno

    The Daily Star believes that Tottenham no longer have any interest in Spanish left-back Alberto Moreno, leaving the way clear for Liverpool to complete their swoop for him.

    The 20-year-old Sevilla defender is expected to be the next new arrival at Anfield following Rickie Lambert and Emre Can.

Emre Can Ready to Make Liverpool Move After Reds Activate Clause

    Liverpool are ready to complete their efforts to sign the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can after activating the German's release clause, according to the Daily Mail.

    Can can leave Leverkusen for £9.75 million, and after the Reds activated his clause the box-to-box under-21 international could be set to head to Merseyside to complete his deal.

Fabio Borini Prepared to Stay and Fight for Place Despite Rickie Lambert Arrival

    Fabio Borini's agent has claimed that the Italian won't be pushed out of Anfield despite the signing of fellow forward Rickie Lambert.

    The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign at Sunderland last season as he helped the Black Cats avoid relegation, and agent Marco De Marchi told the Daily Mirror:

    After his holidays, he will go back to Liverpool to prepare for the new season wearing the shirt of this historic club. He wants to compete with everyone and be an extra resource for the coach and the team.

    Borini could be of use to any team, but no one has contacted us and his desire is to show what he has got at Liverpool.


Another Week, Another Suarez to Real Madrid Rumour

    The London Evening Standard are latest source to publish a rumour linking Luis Suarez to Real Madrid.

    The newspaper claims that the Uruguayan will be a target of a £70 million bid from the European champions, after President Florentino Perez and coach Carlo Ancelotti agreed on the move. 

Liverpool to Muscle in on Arsenal's Move for Serge Aurier?

    The Daily Star cite reports in France claiming that Liverpool are ready to hijack Arsenal's move for the Ivory Coast and Toulouse right-back Serge Aurier.

    The 21-year-old has been widely touted for a move to the Gunners to replace the departing Bacary Sagna, but his agent Stephane Courbis said:

    There is no agreement with Arsenal.

    We’ve talked in past but there has been nothing recently. We’re in talks with another English side.

Silly Season Produces Luis Suarez to Manchester United Link

    Having presumably run out of stories to write, Spanish newspaper Sport have linked Luis Suarez with a £65 million move to Manchester United.

    The Daily Express have also picked up the unlikely story, which claims that United are ready to go head-to-head with Real Madrid for the Uruguayan's signature.

Luis Alberto Set for Malaga Loan Move

    The Daily Mail report that Luis Alberto could be set for a loan move to Malaga next season after an underwhelming first campaign on Merseyside.

    The 21-year-old could be shipped out to make room for one or both of Adam Lallana and Emre Can, who the report claims that the Reds are still chasing.

Juventus Determined to Fight Liverpool and Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez

    Juventus are hoping to beat Liverpool and Manchester United to the signature of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez, with the Chilean looking likely to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

    The Daily Star cite reports that the Italian giants have made a £20 million bid for the 25-year-old.

Rickie Lambert Reveals Delight at Liverpool Move

    New Liverpool forward Rickie Lambert didn't attempt to hide his joy at completing a move back to his boyhood club on Monday.

    The 32-year-old forward told

    I can't believe it. I've loved this club all my life. I left here 17 years ago—and I haven't stopped loving it since. To be back here now having just signed at the age of 32 is hard to describe.

    Obviously I have always dreamt of playing for Liverpool, but I did kind of think the chance of playing for them had gone. I didn't think the chance would come. It was a shock when I heard Liverpool were in for me.

Southampton Have 'No Need to Accept Offer' for Adam Lallana

    In revealing the news that Lambert had completed his move to Liverpool, Southampton issued a strong statement over the future of their other players, including captain and Liverpool target Adam Lallana.
    A statement on the club's official website read:
    Southampton Football Club can confirm that we have received multiple offers for some of our players in the past weeks. This is a confirmation of the depth of the development that is ongoing in our academy and of the present standing of our first team within the Premier League.
    We are staying true to our plan and vision and, as a result, we have no need to accept any offers.

    It remains our preference not to partake in any transfers until the new manager is in place. 

'Everything Agreed' on Alberto Moreno Move

    Marca report that "everything has been agreed" on Alberto Moreno's move from Sevilla to Liverpool, with the Spanish daily saying that all that is left is for both clubs to announce the deal.

    The report, translated into English here by, claims that the deal will now be a straight cash move after Sevilla rejected the chance to take Liverpool's Suso on a year's loan.

    However, the Liverpool Echo's live Reds blog has indicated that those Marca reports could be somewhat premature.

Reds 'Leading Race' to Sign Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas

    The Independent claim that Liverpool are at the head of a queue of clubs looking to sign Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas, who they report is available for £30 million.

    The article goes on to suggest that Fabregas's former club Arsenal, their London rivals Chelsea and both Manchester City and Manchester United are also monitoring the situation.
