Liverpool Transfer News: Renewed Adam Lallana Approach, Latest on Rickie Lambert

Brendan Rodgers' plans for a summer siege on Southampton will see Liverpool return with an improved offer of £25 million for Adam Lallana, while Rickie Lambert is set for his Anfield medical.

Eurosport's Staff reported the news Saturday:

The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce reports that Liverpool have made the renewed Lallana offer with a "take it or leave it" tag attached, having seen a £20 million bid rejected earlier in May.

Even though the Saints are supposedly holding out for a fee of £30 million for their midfielder, the Reds aren't willing to go higher than the most recent offer and will allegedly look to other targets should the figure prove insufficient.

It's well-founded that Lallana's former club Bournemouth are entitled to 25 percent of any Lallana transfer fee, giving some cause as to why the player's price-tag may seem slightly inflated.

Irrespective of that clause, however, TEAMtalk's Mark Holmes fails to see the value in such a deal:

Lallana was one of the major contributors in Southampton's eighth-place Premier League finish this season and has been rewarded with recognition in Roy Hodgson's England World Cup squad.

It's a hefty sum to pay for the 26-year-old, who Squawka showed created 68 scoring chances for Mauricio Pochettino's side this term, as well as scoring nine goals.

However, it would appear that Rodgers and those in the Liverpool hierarchy feel that Lallana is worth the outlay, further strengthening the already thriving raft of English talent at Anfield.

And one figure sure to boost those ranks further is Lambert, who Pearce explained could become a Liverpool player by the start of next week.

After the two clubs agreed a fee of £4 million plus add-ons, Lambert will undergo a medical on Saturday before signing a two-year contract and moving back to his native Merseyside.

Lambert talked about the potential move to Sky Sports on Saturday:

Pearce went on to explain that after featuring as an unused substitute in England's 3-0 win over Peru on Friday, Lambert departed his international teammates to finalise the move, which will be announced on either Sunday or Monday.

Sky Sports' Vinny O'Connor shared an image of the player arriving for his medical on Saturday morning:

The 32-year-old's recruitment is light years away from the £35 million move for Andy Carroll several years ago, showing a shift in tactics by the club's investors, which has every chance of panning out for the better.

Rodgers brought the club success this season, largely thanks to a healthy supply of English stars, and it would appear the Northern Irishman is only adamant to further endorse those ranks with his summer rebuilding.
