England's Wayne Rooney shared his World Cup playlist with fans on Thursday, compiled using the music streaming service Spotify.

Rooney's selection includes tracks by English artists Ed Sheeran, Jake Bugg, Mumford & Sons and—perhaps surprisingly—James Blunt.

There's plenty of American influence, too. Rooney includes songs by Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, John Legend and Bruno Mars, amongst others.

"Little Lion Man" by Mumford & Sons seems to be a particularly apt choice as Rooney prepares to lead the Three Lions' attack in Brazil.

Should we also read into his choosing Pharrell's huge hit "Happy"?

Overall, there's a sense this mix is designed to focus Rooney and put him in a calm, thoughtful place.

Are we reading too much into it? Of course we are, but there's a World Cup on the horizon!
