If a reporter doesn't know what happened in a match or game, it can lead to a very awkward press conference. French tennis player Nicolas Mahut showed how to handle such situations on Monday.

During the press conference after his first-round match of the 2014 French Open, a reporter congratulated him. The only problem was that Mahut lost to Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin in four sets.

Mahut had been ousted from the tournament, but the reporter had no clue.

As you can see in the transcript above, the reporter did come clean when asked about watching the match. That led to an epic response by Mahut.
