Debate: Will Gareth Bale Win a World Footballer of the Year Award?

Gareth Bale capped his first season at Real Madrid with a goal in their Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid.

Bale wasn’t at his best on the night, but he came up with the telling second goal in the 4-1 win.

He is still in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but Jamie Redknapp wrote in his column in the Mail that the Welshman is the heir to the throne as the best player in the world.

Is Redknapp right, or are there better prospects out there?
