Chelsea Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of May 26

    Chelsea's summer transfer activity is well underway, with the £50 million transfer of David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain confirmed at the weekend, per the Press Association (via The Guardian).

    The Brazilian joins Juan Mata as a fan favourite who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho. Together, the pair have added £90 million to the Stamford Bridge transfer kitty.

    Where that money will be reinvested remains to be seen, but let's take a look at the latest names linked with Chelsea. 

Frank Lampard to Sign for New New York Franchise

    It looks as though Frank Lampard has kicked his final ball for Chelsea. According to Darren Lewis at The Mirror, Lampard is preparing to sign a contract with Manchester City's MLS franchise New York City FC.

    If the report is accurate, Lampard will depart Chelsea as their top goalscorer, having received a dismal send off after his final game at Stamford Bridge against Norwich City. It would also mean that each of the five penalty-takers from the 2012 Champions League Final victory have now left the club.

Roma Want £50 Million for Mehdi Benatia

    Hannah Duncan at The Metro has reported that Roma will not accept any offer of less than £50 million for Mehdi Benatia. The centre-half would represent a like-for-like replacement for the departing David Luiz.

Samuel Eto'o Gunning for Mourinho

    Samuel Eto'o is hoping that Arsenal snap him up this summer so that he can exact his revenge on Jose Mourinho. According to John Cross at The Mirror, Eto'o is still upset by the remarks that Mourinho made about his age, and is determined to prove The Special One wrong.

Chelsea Turn on Charm for Filipe Luis

    With Ashley Cole looking set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea have stepped up interest in Atletico Madrid's Filipe Luis. Although the left-back has expressed a desire to finish up the three years left on his current deal at the Vicente Calderon, the Blues believe that an offer to double his wages could tempt him to London, per The Independent.

Kenneth Omeruo Signs Contract Extension

    Kenneth Omeruo has committed his future to Chelsea after signing a fur-year extension to his current deal. The 20-year-old centre-half is yet to make an appearance for the Blues, but Sky Sports have reported that he is "excited about the future."

Tiago to Return to Chelsea

    Tiago is set for a reunion with Jose Mourinho after agreeing a deal to bring him back to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer, according to Simon Jones at the Daily Mail.

Chelsea Set to Spend £65 Million on Paul Pogba

    Wayne Veysey at Goal.com has reported that Chelsea are monitoring Juventus starlet Paul Pogba in the hope that he can be persuaded to leave the Serie A champions. Pogba would be a marquee signing and would act as a long-term replacement for Frank Lampard in midfield.

Toni Kroos to Replace Oscar?

    The Metro have reported that Toni Kroos could replace Oscar in the Chelsea attack next season. Quite where Oscar is going remains to be seen at this moment.

Chelsea to Hijack Manchester United Luke Shaw Deal

    According to Simon Jones at the Daily Mail, Chelsea have asked to be kept informed of progress in the negotiations between Southampton starlet Luke Shaw and Manchester United. Shaw has admitted that he is a Chelsea fan, and he is seen as a replacement for Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea Still Chasing Mario Balotelli

    The Express' Ben Jefferson has reported that Chelsea are still keeping tabs on unsettled AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli. While the Italian is not among the first-choice names being targeted by the Blues, he would still represent a significant improvement on the current strike force.

Frank Lampard Released by Chelsea

    The Premier League revealed this weekend, per Hannah Duncan at The Metro, that Frank Lampard is among the players who are out of contract at Chelsea.

    The Sun (subscription required) report that Lampard's uncle, Harry Redknapp, is interested in bringing him to newly promoted QPR, according to BBC Sport.

    However, this does not mean that Super Frank has played his last game for the Blues. With the World Cup fast approaching, Lampard is likely to continue negotiations for a new deal when he returns from Brazil. 

Chelsea Chase Ezequiel Lavezzi from PSG

    Following David Luiz's departure for Paris, Chelsea are interested in bringing striker Ezequiel Lavezzi in the opposite direction.

    According to Matt Law at The Telegraph, the Argentina striker will be targeted alongside Diego Costa, with Mourinho looking to overhaul his strike force. 

Demba Ba to Besiktas?

    Jonny Singer at the Daily Mail has reported that Besiktas are interested in signing Demba Ba. However, talks last week between the striker and Mourinho seem to indicate that he will stay at Stamford Bridge. 

Diego Costa Could Stay at Atletico Madrid

    Pete Jenson at the Daily Mail has reported that Diego Costa could be set to stay at Atletico Madrid after their Champions League run boosted their finances.

    According to the report, an "aggressive approach" has been made to keep the striker at the Vicente Calderon.

    Considering the fact he hobbled off after just 10 minutes of the Champions League final, Chelsea may have dodged a bullet. 

Petr Cech to Paris Saint-Germain?

    Following on from Friday's report in The Metro that Thibaut Courtois believes that Petr Cech should be sold to make way for him at Stamford Bridge, Paris Saint-Germain have registered their interest in the Czech shot-stopper.

    Per John Payne at The Metro, Mourinho is ready to put his trust in Courtois, while keeping Mark Schwarzer as back-up for next season.
