The 2009 Draft came and went. There were very few surprises, and per usual the draft wouldn't be the draft without New Yorkers heckling David Stern.
The Clippers, for once, didn't have brain cramps and picked BlakeGriffin the No. 1 consensus pick.
Thabeet went to the Grizzlies at two. The pick of James Harden at three was a surprise.
Minnesota, for some inexplicable reason, choose three point guards, one of whom, Ty Lawson, they traded to Denver for cash and future considerations.
They now have Johnny Flynn and Ricky Rubio. It's seems like a major trade is waiting to happen as Rubio is threatening to go back to Europe. Stay tuned for that result.
This slide show is about the trades that happened with veteran teams and players and how it effects the NBA landscape.
The clear winners were San Antonio and Orlando. The surprise team in this mix are the Sixers, who are either on the verge of being duds or going on to join NBA hierarchy.
Jefferson has now been traded twice in the last three years. New Jersey unceremoniously dumped him after they inked Vin-sanity Carter to a new multi-year deal.
In an effort to clear cap space to resign Charlie Villuenva, Jefferson was dealt for spare parts—all of whom will probably be bought out as they have little to no value for the Bucks.
The Spurs, on the other hand, could not be more happy with their new acquisition. The addition of Jefferson gives the Spurs an athletic three who can keep up with the likes of Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant.
San Antonio has gotten a much needed insurance policy for Manu Ginobili as well as youth, athleticism and scoring punch.
Jefferson's career averages: 17.7 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 785 free throw averages.
Of all the moves, this may finally give LeBron the championship he craves.
Shaq was linked with two of the most recognized superstars in the NBA: Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade. He got three of his championships with Kobe and one with Wade.
Now he has moved his massive game and ego to a town that has a king who needs a great beast to solidify his throne.
The Cavaliers still have a lot of holes to fill before they could ride the championship train, but with their new Shaq-quisition, they may just do it.
Dwight Howard's, Kendrick Perkins's, Roy Hibbert's, and Andrew Boguts' jobs have just gotten tougher.
The Magic had no hope of resigning Turkgolu, and like everyone else in this years fire sale, Carter was deemed expendable.
Orlando needed an alpha dog on the court who could create his own shot and bring the "magic" to Orlando basketball.
The reigning Eastern Conference Champs have now solidified the shooting guard position. Rashard Lewis will play his natural postion at small forward.
Now all they have to do is get a four man who can make a mid-range shot and help Howard on the boards.
Carter has career averages of 23.7 PPG 5.3 RPG, 4.3 Assists per game.
The Warriors and Hawks did a minor trade which brought more shooting touch to the anemic offensive attack of the Hawks. Crawford never met a shot he didn't like.
The Hawks won't make much noise beyond the first round until they bring in a legitimate center in support of Al Horford and get rid of Josh Smith.
Crawford's career average: 15.7 PPg 4 Assists per game.
The Sixers got Jason Kapono to give them a more balanced offensive attack. Kapono brigns a 45% three point shooting percentage to the mix. His long range shooting will allow Elton Brand to operate more freely in the post—that is if he is not traded.
Philly is on the cusp of being a perennial playoff team.
The addition of Johnson gives the Bucks more length and athleticism at the four. Johnson did not get much playing time in Detroit, but Milwaukee may give him a chance to flourish.
The Bucks may still end up in the lottery next year.
