ESPN has just reported during the NBA draft broadcast that, trade, The Memphis Grizzles have traded C/F Darko Milicic, to the New York Knicks for G Quentin Richardson. A swap of two underwhelming players.

The Knicks have not had a cornerstone, franchise type, big man for awhile now, but Eddy Curry seemed to fit the bill. He simply has yet to blossom.

Milicic gives the Knicks an inside presence with some potential upside at only twenty four years old.

He is probably best remembered for being picked directly behind LeBron James at number two and ahead of perennial all stars Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.

Both contracts are expiring next season, so it was more of a change in scenery swap then a cost cutting move.

The Knicks are doing what they can to have lots of cap room so they can go on a spending spree during the much anticipated, free agent summer of 2010 when stars like LeBron James, can opt out of their contracts and hit the open market.
