Dwight Howard. Superman. The Man-Child. He goes by many names, but there are only a few words to properly describe him. Insane. Amazing. You get my point.
He is the obvious leader of the Orlando Magic. Where were the Magic last year? 8th in the pathetic Eastern conference. That may be because Dwight averaged 17.6 points, and 12.3 rebounds a game. This year, he is up to 20.6 points a game, and a wopping 14.2 rebounds a game? How often do people do that?
We didn't get to see much of it last year because his team sucked, but Dwight is most definitely a playoff performer. True it is against the defensively week Toronto Raptors, but how many players, in this day and age average almost a 20/20? In the playoffs no less. Dwight has been dominating the Raptors, he has scored 22.6 points a game, and he also rebounds the ball 18.2 times a game! Oh yeah, he also blocks almost 4 shots a game, not to mention one 8 block game against the Raptors.
This guy has averaged a double-double every year he has been in the league, and he has only gotten better...every year. If he doesn't deserve to be one of the top candidates for MVP (which he does), he should be one of the guys considered for Most Improved player, I am thinking maybe behind Rondo and Turkoglu?
Look into it, compare the stats, crunch the numbers. This guy is the real deal, Orlando's MVP.

I agree TJ 100%. I followed Dwight since high school and he is a freak of nature. He should be considered higher in the MVP voting, but I'm thinking the acquisition of Rashard Lewis and the improved play of Hedo Turkoglu made Howard a bit overlooked. I love watching him though because he bangs the rock soooooooooooo hard, every time. Good article man.

I agree he at least deserves consideration. It doesn't matter though, as long as he keeps it up in the post-season.

Unfortunately Dwight Howard had a bang-up year the same year Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul (my choice for MVP) had a bang-up year.

I like the idea here but THIS was the pick of the day?
I'd say Dwight Howard is just as important to his team as LeBron is to the Cavs. Howard will win NBA MVP someday. The biggest area of improvement for him would be footwork in the post and free throw shooting. When he develops some post moves to go along with his freakish athleticism he'll rip the NBA apart. If he can get up to 65-75% from the free throw line his PPG average will go up about 5 points a game.

I think he is considered. I don't think he will get many if any first place votes but he will be top 5 in voting this year and he deserves it. Like you and everyone else said he is a freak. I agree that he wll only get better and the fact that he hasn't missed anytime so far in his career is real encouraging too. The Magic have the biggest and baddest Mofo in the league potrolling their middle and the guy doesn't seem to get hurt. Thats huge

Top 5 maybe, but he would be either 5th or 6th behind KG, CP3, Kobe, LBJ and maybe T-Mac. I think that he should be 3rd. Behind CP3 and Kobe...he wont get that high though.
