On June 24, the United States national football team pulled off an upset for the ages as they beat the best football team on the planet, team Spain, by a 2-0 score.

However, many people, especially Americans, don't understand how great this match really was.

This win was one of the best wins ever for the United States National team, and they beat a Spanish club that hadn't lost in their last 35 matches, and won all of their last 15 matches.

This Spanish side consists of some of the best players in the world in Fernando Torres, David Villa, Cesc Fábregas, Xabi Alonso, and Xavi.

Also, they have beaten everyone in their path for the last two and a half years and appeared to be unbeatable.

But the Americans got clutch goalkeeping from Tim Howard, had a defense led by Carlos Bocanegra that was able to block many shots, and their offensive attack was clutch when it was needed most, as Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey were able to convert on the two best chances for the Americans in this game.

On paper, these two teams didn't deserve to be on the pitch and if they played each other on any other given day, the Americans would probably lose most of the matches.

However, this wasn't true yesterday, as the Americans were able to neutralize the Spanish attack enough and have good enough play from everyone on the team to allow them to win the game.

Now if the Americans can do this again on June 28 against Brazil, they will once again have a great chance of victory, and will be able to win the Confederations Cup.
